What you are looking at

Every chapter of Scripture sits on the shelf across the middle — 1,189 bars, each as tall as its verse count, Genesis at the left hand and the Revelation at the right, the seam between the testaments marked. Every known cross-reference is drawn exactly once: connections within a testament arc over the top, and connections between the testaments hang beneath — the bridges.

The colours are an honesty grade, not a decoration

The underlying list of connections is the Treasury of Scripture Knowledge — a magnificent 1830s reference work, but an editor’s judgment, not the text’s own claim. This site does not pass the one off as the other, so every link is graded by what a machine can actually verify. Gold links are claimed by the text itself: the New Testament says “that it might be fulfilled” over them, and the build checks the formula is really there. Green links share at least one rare original-language root between their two verses — kinship you can count in the Hebrew or Greek, from the same tagging The Words reads. Slate links rest on the editor’s judgment alone — kept, drawn, and labeled as exactly that.

Measured honestly: only about four in ten of the editor’s links show verbal kinship in the original languages. The rest may still be true connections — theme outruns vocabulary — but you deserve to know which kind you are looking at. One caveat the green cannot cross: Hebrew and Greek codes cannot be compared word-for-word, so a bridge between the testaments can only earn gold, never green — judge the slate bridges with that in mind.
